Synopsis

2016. In Val Grande, the largest wilderness area in Italy, a bivouac catches fire. Only a small camera is saved. Inside its memory remain the images filmed by the man who has lived in that valley for sixteen years, barefoot and without masters: Gianfry, the hermit.

Director's Notes

Making a film about Gianfranco Bonaldo means not only telling an eccentric life, but also addressing some of the fundamental questions of everyone's life. Gianfry, against all odds, managed to react to the violence he suffered in his youth. The film aims to turn his personal story into a universal message about how a second chance is granted to those who have the courage to seek it out, even in the wildest way.
